Ghanaian radio presenter, Erskine Amo Whyte, popularly known as Rev. Erskine has disclosed that he has been with Ghana’s number one urban station,Y107.9FM for the past five years and he deems himself as a ‘son of YFM’ because the station welcomed him when others did not.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on the Late Nite Celebrity Show, he revealed that he started at YFM as an intern and subsequently worked towards becoming a presenter.
“The first time I went into the studio as an intern, I took a picture and put it as my screen saver on my laptop. That was my dream. It motivated me everytime. And after about 18 months my dream came true”, he said.
He furthered that apart from learning from some of the great presenters such as Eddy Blay and Joel Orleans, he worked hard for this role. He recounted that he contributed to the production of content for radio shows even as an intern and that created the opportunity to be recognized.
Commenting on his many rejections before finding himself at YFM, he said, “I tried radio universe but they bounced me. They gave me the opportunity to yearn for more. I was from Kumasi. It was studies that brought me to Accra but radio presenting was the passion”.
