Budding Ghanaian artiste, Thirtn has explained what pushed him to feature on the ongoing “Washawasay” trend on social media.
According to him, his main motive for doing the song was to save the woman of God, Cecilia Marfo from suffering ridicule and shame.
“People were making fun of her because of her attempt to sing a popular gospel song we all know and sing. But she ended up pronouncing the words in the song wrongly. I felt Ghanaians were not being fair to her because unlike most of us she is not literate,” he shared.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on e.TV Ghana’s Late Nite Celebrity Show, he noted, “mocking her was very unfair. So, in my own way of trying to help her, I decided to come up with the song to cover up for her which I think helped.”
He said that the response to the song was mind blowing, ‘I was not expecting the song to do well like it did’
“I also think the purpose for doing the song was also achieved. It actually took away the fact that she sang the words wrongly for people to actually enjoy it,” he stated.
Fortunately for him, he got the chance to meet Cecilia Marfo and she mentioned that she loves the song which he is very proud of.
