Former Black Stars international and Hearts of Oak defender, Samuel Inkoom has revealed that his inspiration to strive for greatness came from the belief that the best talents emerge from the western region of Ghana.
In a recent exclusive interview with e.tv Ghana’s “The Conversation”, Samuel Inkoom opened up about the challenges he faced on his journey to becoming a professional football player
Hailing from Sekondi Takoradi, Inkoom acknowledged the difficulties that aspiring players in Ghana encounter in their pursuit of a professional career.
He shared that his father, an academic and headmaster, initially discouraged him from dedicating himself to football, instead emphasizing the importance of education. However, Inkoom remained resolute in his passion for the beautiful game and was determined to make his mark in Ghana’s history.
“My Dad was an academic and a headmaster and didn’t want me to commit to football but to be in school always. Of course education is equally important but I had my own plans and did everything I could to be a professional,” he said.
The talented defender expressed his ambition to join the list of great talents who hailed from the western region of Ghana. According to him, the region had been a breeding ground for numerous exceptional talents, and he wanted to follow in their footsteps.
While acknowledging the arduous nature of his journey, Inkoom highlighted that his unwavering determination and clear vision of his aspirations guided him through the challenges. He knew exactly what he wanted to achieve and what he was seeking in life.
