Editor of the Informer newspaper, Andy Kankam, has explained how among all news stories available, they are able to decide which story deserves to be the banner headline.
Speaking on eTV Ghana’s Fact Sheet show which is hosted by Samuel Eshun on eTV Ghana, he noted that the banner headline is mainly about catching the attention of the government, hence, they carefully select issues which are of great public concern and are highly likely to catch attention.
“For me, it is about Ghanaians. I have always said that Ghanaians are my constituents and I will always prioritize the needs of Ghanaians over any other thing. I mean people’s parochial interest, I will not engage in those sycophantic praises so if I have to bring to the attention of government for appropriate action to be taken, I will do so”, he said.
Andy continued, “Some people somewhere find it difficult to get access to portable water in this 21st century. We have seen districts like the Wenchi district and Tolon district where people compete with animals for portable water and I think a topic like this this will be priority for me when choosing the banner headline”.
The Editor concluded that the government is confronted with a myriad of issues to address; therefore, it is the importance of the issues that are put on the banner that will drive the government to act fast.
