When most relationships end, the ladies are more seen wallowing in sorrow and stooping so low to do anything possible to have the relationship mended, however, when all efforts prove futile, they manage to move on somehow.
Gloria Obeng, a gender activist and an entrepreneur, has answered the question of ‘Is there really a secret strictly known to women to help them overcome heartbreaks?’
Interviewed on eTV Ghana’s Girl Vibes show, she told host, Mercy Bee the Ekumfi Princess that women have no secret to dealing with heartbreaks. According to her, people deal with heartbreaks differently and it has to do with their different personality types.
“In dealing with heartbreaks, your temperament, your environment and a whole lot of things count. For me, I’m a sanguine so I live in the present and I thrive on love and attention. People react to situations differently so what will break me might make someone else stronger”, she said.
Gloria advised that it is very important to allow people to take as long as they need to heal, and do whatever they want to do to heal so long as it does not involve suicide or inflicting self-pain.
“Don’t tell someone that she’s a fool for taking so long to get over a man. Just allow people to heal because we’re all different people”, the gender activist further counseled.
She observed that a lot of times, people think a heartbreak can only come into the picture when there is a romantic relationship, however, she clarified that trusted friends and family can equally break one’s heart.
According to her, heartbreak is basically the disappointment, betrayal or sorrow that a person feels when someone they love puts them through pain, and this can come from a lot of things, however, it seems to be reduced to relationships because “In Ghana, when we talk of heartbreak, it’s about a guy or a girl leaving his or her partner”.
