The President of the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference, Most Reverend Philip Naameh has said that it is unacceptable that a man and a woman engage in anal sex as it is against the laws of God.
His comments come amid the debate on the criminalization of LGBTQ+ and its related activities in the country.
The priest added that married persons are not at liberty to engage in anal sex when homosexual acts are being condemned.
He shared these thoughts during an interview with Samuel Eshun on e.TV Ghana’s ‘Fact Sheet’ show when he said: “It is not appropriate for a man to have sex with the woman through the anus. There is a female sexual organ and a male one and in God’s wisdom, they compliment each other, and facilitate the act of procreation.
So, if a man decides, instead of the female sexual organ, to penetrate in any other organ of the woman that is not acceptable. It is in not in accordance with the wisdom of God in creating man and woman with this sexual differentiation.”
Meanwhile, Most Reverend Philip Naameh says their stance on LGBTQ+ and its related activities has not changed.
According to him, they condemn the acts of homosexuals but do not hate the persons involved in the act.
The debate on LGTBQ+ has been sparked by the introduction of a new anti-gay bill into parliament that seeks to criminalize LGBTQ+ and its related activities while promoting conversion therapy programs seeking to “convert” people from homosexuality to heterosexuality.
Some academics, lawyers and civil society professionals have vehemently opposed this bill, contending that the bill is an “impermissible invasion of the inviolability of human dignity.”
The Christian community in Ghana has, however, embraced the bill.
