Former Ghana International Yaw Preko has warned the Black Stars to avoid complacency ahead of their international friendly against Qatar on Monday.
The Black Stars were thumped by Mali on Friday in CK Akonnor’s first game in charge of the team as Black Stars coach.
Ghana lost the game by 3-0 at the Emir Sports Complex at Antalya Turkey.
Analysing the defeat against Mali, the former Ghana U-20 coach said, the players did not take instructions from the technical bench which also led to the defeat.
He advised that the team should be wary of Qatar which has seen great improvement in the game due to the investment they have made and not to underrate them ahead of the friendly game.
“Qatar is not a small football country and we must give them that respect. Ghanaians should not underrate them in this game”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.
Qatar is the defending champion of the Asian Cup after winning the tournament last year.
Meanwhile, Black Stars coach CK Akonnor will be looking for redemption after losing his first game in charge of the team.
Akonnor has tweaked his starting line up from the previous one against Mali ahead of today’s game.
The Black Stars will be hoping to put in an improved performance tonight against Qatar. The game is part of Ghana’s build-up to next months 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.
