Adviser to the Moroccan Sports Minister, Ghizlawe Senhaji, has said that the country is prepared to host the next African Games that is scheduled to be held later this year.
ANOCA announced last year that Morocco’s capital, Rabat, will host the 12th edition of the African Games in August 2019 after the withdrawal of Equitorial Guinea.
Due to the short notice, many have expressed their doubts as to whether Morocco will be prepared enough to host the games.
However, speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing Association of International Sports Press (AIPS) African Congress in Accra, the advisor to the Minister for Sports and Youth In Morocco, Madam Ghizlawe Senhaji assured journalists that Morocco will be ready to host the event later this year.
“Morocco is very prepared. We are equipped to host 54 delegations and very ready to begin the African games in August,” she said.
She further revealed that all infrastructures needed to host the event are ready.
“ We have the infrastructure ready, the games village is also ready to accommodate athletes. We are preparing cultural programs to welcome visitors, including athletes, officials and all other delegations. We have hotels ready to host the official visitors, media and so on,” she added.
More than 5,000 professional and amateur athletes will compete in various sports event at the games.
The last edition was hosted by Congo in their capital Brazzaville in 2015.
