Ghanaian Pastor and Relationship Counselor, Divine Williams, has shared his perspective as a husband on the topic ‘dealing with the issue of in-laws’ interference in marriages’.
In an interview with host, Nana Yaw Odame on Men’s Lounge aired on eTV Ghana, he opined that couples need their in-laws in marriage, nevertheless, it is Important to limit the involvement of in-laws in marital issues so they do not take control of their lives.
He said, ‘’I would not encourage too much interference no matter the values, experience and wisdom that they have. We need them but we have to be careful because it can get to the point where they begin to control you and how you handle issues because of their experience’’.
Divine advised that in drawing a barrier between a couple and their in-laws, men are supposed to handle their in-laws the same way they treat their own parents because to women, family is a very crucial part of their lives and they do not like to have their families drifting apart.
