Chairperson for the Ghana Toll Workers, Henry Dogbe, has revealed that toll workers laid off a year ago are yet to be paid monies owed them by the government.
The Finance Minister Mr Ken Ofori Atta on the 17th of November 2021 during his budget review to parliament for 2022, made mention of government’s intention to close down all Toll booth.
A day after his reading, the Minister of road and highways Mr. Amoako Atta came down to announce the closing down of all toll booth areas with immediate effect.
In a press statement released on Thursday 17th November 2022, Edward Danquah revealed that government had promised them payment of allowances before they are assigned to a different occupation.
He continued to state that since their dismissal till present day no one has been paid off or even assigned and therefore do not have any source of living to feed from.
The toll workers have pleaded with government to come to their aid and fulfill their promises.
