Executive director of Salt and Light Ministries, Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee says that the era of male dominance in the various occupational sectors is extinct as more women, through good education, competence and hard work are delving into such areas.
” I’d like to tell women that there is nothing called male dominance or male areas anymore. They may dominate the areas because we, as women have not stepped up. But otherwise, whether it is engineering, medicine or law. Whether it is politics, I think that more and more women are getting interested in these areas “.
The former politician attributed the dominance of men in certain occupational fields as a result of some women segregating certain career paths and ascribing them as manly responsibilities.
” For a long time, every area of work was male-dominated because a lot of us ladies had chosen certain areas of work, which were called the ‘soft areas’ and the so-called ‘ hard areas ‘where decisions are taken by men. I think with time and education, the lines have become blurred and women are able to get there”.
