Clinical Health Psychologist, Christian Gyamfi, has revealed, per his knowledge and insight that, taking at maximum, eight bottles of alcohol in a week is moderate.
He stated in an interview with Nana Yaw Odame on eTV Ghana’s Men’s Lounge that, according to the International Centre for Alcohol Abuse, taking five to eight bottles of beer in a week is okay to keep the body continually functioning perfectly, however, that is also dependent on the person’s liver.
Anything more than this, he implied, can now be termed as alcohol abuse.
“Alcohol has three different categories. We have the beer, wine and spirit. Among these three, we have some minimum quantity that you need to take in which is seen as moderate for the individual’s functioning but how much is too much is also dependent on the person in question”, he expunged.
Christian went on that, “Depending on your metabolic system and how immediately it can take alcohol out of your system, and how your liver is able to ease the pressure, someone might take just a sip and it is too much. Someone can take 10-15bottles and would still be normal”.
According to him, alcohol intake becomes a problem when it tends to interfere with one’s daily activities. When one is always found taking alcohol at their least free times, ignoring their work and other important things that they have to do, etc, then we can say that alcohol has become a problem for them.
