Lecturer at the Presbyterian University College, Mark Oliver Kevor, has cautioned the National Identification Authority (NIA) to do away with “propaganda, sweet talk, and impression management” and heed to the call to hold on with the registration.
According to him, pictures and videos circulating which prove that the NIA is heeding to the social distancing directive are all propaganda.
In an interview on the Happy Morning Show, aired on Happy 98.9FM, he said: “ This sickness is so dangerous that you cannot cite it with propaganda, sweet talk and impression management. What NIA is doing is very dangerous. If you go to the center and assemble people in a group of twenty-five (25) and say you are observing social distance of about a meter or two and take a picture and circulate it, you have not done anybody any good”.
He opined that it will be difficult for the NIA to control the number of people who turn out for the registration because a lot of Ghanaians want to register for the cards within the deadline given.
As part of the individuals who have requested a court injunction on the NIA exercise, Mark Oliver Kevor, hopes that the NIA will heed to the court’s order should it rule in favor of an injunction thereby reducing the risk of contracting the sickness among Ghanaians.
The NIA has earlier this week reacted to critics who have called for the suspension of the exercise, by stating that it is using a numbering and appointment system to manage queues at registration centers to ensure that there is no crowd build-up and violation of social distancing protocols.
