Shakira and Bizarrap have made history with a Latin track that’s topped the charts in a way no song before it ever has.
The Colombian songstress and 24-year-old Argentinian DJ and producer have plenty to celebrate after not only bagging a No.1 together, but also FOUR Guinness World Records titles, including most viewed Latin track on YouTube in 24 hours and fastest Latin track to reach 100 million views on YouTube.
“BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53” was released on YouTube on 12 January and very quickly made its mark on history.
Guinness World Records presented the duo with their certificates backstage at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Its success wasn’t exclusive to YouTube though, as it also earned the record for most streamed Latin track on Spotify in 24 hours with 14,393,342 plays by fans.
By the end of the first week, that number grew to a mightily impressive 80,646,962, also making the song the most streamed Latin track on Spotify in one week.
To celebrate their incredible achievements, the duo were greeted backstage at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon by Official Adjudicator Michael Empric, who presented them both with their mountain of Guinness World Records certificates, before they took to the stage to perform their history making track together.
He spent two months at No.1 with “Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” and has made it to the top spot again with the record-setting “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”.
