Ace broadcast journalist and philanthropist, Kwami Sefa Kayi has finally cleared the air concerning rumours that suggested he was going to be appointed either the Minister of Information or Director of Communication at the presidency.
According to him, these were just rumours that circulated way back in 2016 and should be disregarded.
Denying the rumours in an interview on Y107.9FM’s Y Leaderboard Series with Rev Erskine, the astute broadcaster indicated that “It is not true. At a point, they said I was going to be the Director of Communication at the presidency which was not true. Someone took a not-so-flattering picture of me and they did a story saying I was being appointed by the government.”
He acknowledged that he heard friends of friends saying such things as well. “They wanted to present my name for the positions but nothing like that was offered to me.”
The radio host reiterated that there were unofficial conversations going around alright but nobody had the authority of the president or that of the vice president to say “the president says I should come and ask you if you would take the offer and we want your thoughts on it. Nothing like that ever took place.”
Kwami added that those conversations happen all the time whenever there is a change in government. “It happens to not only me but others too.”
The broadcaster revealed that he loves what he does now and would have never taken up the appointment were the rumours true. “I do honestly love what I do right now. I am happy to be a moderator of public opinion. I am happy and I love where I am right now.”
He, however, noted that he does not know the direction his life will take in the near future and did not run off the idea of possibly going into active politics.
