Imam of the Masjid Adam Mosque Malam Abubakari Adam has revealed to all Ghanaians why some Muslims do not support voting.
According to him, some Imams believe that Allah is the provider of rules and law and not humans and so once you elect someone else to set these rules and laws for you to follow then it looks as though they are taking Allah’s place which is impossible.
In an interview with Rev Nyansa Boakwa on Happy 98.9FM’s NsemPii he stated, “ some Muslims see democracy as what humans have arranged and are following and others also see it as not from God thus do not believe in it”.
Moving on despite all the misunderstandings surrounding this issue he stated that some Malams also support elections.
Their reason being that, “irrespective of their beliefs and religion we are all still Ghanaians living in the same country and apart from Allah being our overall leader we definitely will need one leader to lead and guide us in our endeavours and even Allah believes in guiding us through elected leaders thus, we all have the right to choose a leader”.
He believes that, whether or not they agree or disagree to elections it will still go on and a leader will still be selected to head the country and this decision can not be made by other citizens of the country else it’s possible for that decision to have a negative effect on them and everyone else in the country.
“Majority of Muslims and Malams have now agreed to Muslims voting so all you have to weigh both sides and find out how you’ll benefit positively from whoever you’re voting for and go-ahead to vote for them”.
