Wellness coach, Aba Essuman, has shared every detail that one needs to know about detoxification; why we need to detoxify and what causes the build-up of these toxins that need to be removed from the body.
Discussing ‘Why we need to detoxify’ with Eunice Tornyi on eTV Ghana’s African Women’s Voices, she first defined detoxification as a process of removing toxins from the human body to improve one’s health.
These toxins, she said, can come from the foods we eat, from cosmetics or perfumes, and even from household cleaning equipment and detergents, from the fume that comes from exhaust pipes and basically in the air.
Talking about the purpose of the interview, Aba said, “It improves the quality of our lives by giving us more energy. You realize that as we’ve accumulated toxins in our bodies, we feel sluggish, we feel tired most of the time and we have so much fatigue most of the time which makes it difficult to accomplish all of our tasks during the day”.
These, alternatively, are symptoms that there are lots of toxins accumulated in the body. She continued that there can also be symptoms like pain in the right side of the abdomen, skin breakout of acne and rashes as well as skin discolouration.
Aba Essuman noted that aside from the reasons for detoxification mentioned above, the main reason that one needs to detox is to cleanse the digestive system, however, that is not the only system which needs to be detoxified.
“Apart from the digestive system, you also need to have a detox of the liver, the lungs, the skin and the kidneys”, the wellness coach further notified.
To conclude, she advised that when doing household chores, it would be best to use gloves so as to protect the skin from absorbing these harmful toxins.
