Leading Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Okyere-Darko has shockingly alleged that Nana Appiah Mensah better known as NAM 1 was arrested some time ago but breached his bail condition and absconded.
This revelation comes after customers of Menzgold in Kumasi staged a demonstration at the company’s Amakom branch, by blocking principal streets in Kumasi and burning car tyres to register their displeasure about Government stance on the Menzgold saga.
Some demonstrators were also seen holding placards calling on Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the Asantehene to intercede on their behalf so that government can rescind its earlier decision not to help affected customers retrieve their locked-up investments with the gold dealing company.
Mr. Okyere-Darko took to his Facebook page to make this revelation and also called on the appropriate authorities to re-arrest the absconded businessman.
He wrote:
“I understand the owner of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has breached his bail condition and absconded. We can’t allow those who allegedly dupe people with such impunity to get away with it that easily. Let’s smoke them out, wherever they are, and throw the book at them! While, I will not want a pesewa of my tax money to be involved with this Ponzi matter, I believe majority of Ghanaians will agree with me that the law must come down heavily on those who use such schemes to destroy the lives of many people”.
