Senior Pastor, Glorylife City Church, Sakumono, Apostle Francis Andorful has explained the variations between righteousness and holiness.
He stated that, the two are not the same and have different meanings but work hand in hand.
Explaining both terms he mentioned that, righteousness talks about standing right with God and being properly positioned with God whiles holiness is the activity or lifestyle which shows that we live in Christ.
He told Paul Anomah Kordieh on e.TV Ghana’s Christian connect, “There is something the Bible says in the book of Romans 5:19, that the word righteousness means to be right standing with God to be properly positioned so righteousness in it’s original sense of the word has to do with a positioning to be in right positioning and to be accepted by God”.
According to him, we know from scripture the basis upon which we’re accepted by God is what Jesus Christ did in the stead of all humanity to pay the price of our redemption on the cross.
“So, righteousness is positional but in God through Christ and the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5 that, he has reconciled us to himself in right positioning so righteousness is a right positioning with God to be placed in an acceptable position” he shared.
He furthered that, holiness on the other hand, has to do with an activity, function, lifestyle or behavior that must spread from that acceptable position that we have come into in Christ Jesus.
“That is the basic difference. Righteousness is not just an act but, it instigates an act because it is a positioning and holiness is our response to the place that God has put us in” he added.
The man of God explained that, It is our outward manifestation of what God has worked inside of us to bring us into alignment and acceptance with him is what we term as righteousness hence it is not same as holiness.
He also added that, “Once I have come to believe in Christ Jesus and his finished work, God accepts me based on what Christ has done and I respond to that acceptance by living in a certain way towards him and that is holiness”.
