Senior Protocol Officer at the Head Quarters of the Church of Pentecost, Elder David Tagoe has taken time in explaining the term man as a tripartite being in relation to the body , soul and spirit.
According to the Senior Protocol Officer, ” man as a tripartite being simply suggests that man is made up of three parts namely the body, soul and spirit of which the body serves as a housing for the spirit and soul”.
Gracing the first edition of the Christian Connect show on ETV Ghana, he gave detailed elaborations on the difference between the soul and the spirit.
” Whereas the soul is the seat of man’s emotions, his mind and will, the soul is actually that which is called life which man received from God. The spirit , however , which is another immaterial part of man, enables man to connect with God, have fellowship and intimacy with God.”
He furthered by explaining how God gave a part of himself to man to enable man become a living creature .
” For man to have life , God had to breathe into him. God is not like us. He is not matter but a spirit. And because he is spirit , he gave man a part of himself . The soul that man had from God is life.”
Elder Tagoe also stated that, ” God desired to have a fellowship with man which was impossible because his creation was flesh while He ( God) was spirit. For the intimacy , and friendship between God and man to exist, man had to be given the spirit of God. He could then interact with God spiritually.”
