Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Delicate R Underwear & More, Rita Mawusi has shared her journey as a businesswoman and the difficulties she faced as her early career.
According to her, being a businesswoman from the onset is difficult especially combining her office work with underwear business, “I went through stress getting customers and maintaining them. I can sell two dozen panties for five months and there will still be some left in my bag,” she said.
In a chat with Mercy Bee on e.tv Ghana’s Girls Vibes she narrated, “I started 9 years ago when I lost my job at latex foam, I was contemplating what to do before I get a new job. I decided to sell underwear because I got inspiration from a lady who used to bring the underwear to my work at latex foam for us to buy. So I made up my mind to buy from the lady and sell it since I didn’t where to get it from”.
To her it was in God’s plan to become a CEO as she revealed that she never lasts long working for people.
She added, “while selling I realized most people didn’t know that we are to wear our underwear for three months and change for new ones. They thought wearing underwear for two years was enough. So I took to upon myself to educate them on underwear and the feedback I got was amazing”.
She further disclosed that her friends discouraged her from selling underwear because they thought selling panties wasn’t right and also her customers refuse to pay her after buying on credit.
“At a point I thought of giving up but one thing I thank God about was that I kept on encouraging myself weather it bad or good,” she added.
