Ghana-based Nigerian artiste, Tinuke says her ways and swag as a musician were influenced by world acclaimed Beninese singer-songwriter, Angélique Kidjo and American girl group, TLC.
Growing up in the 90s, the songstress loved to sing and listen to a mixture of local and American songs. Keenly listening to these iconic female musicians impacted her greatly although she did not know she would fall in love with and do music herself back then.
Sharing what inspired her most about the these two groups of people in an interview with Akosua Hanson on Y 107.9 FM’s Y Lounge, she said, “They are like the kind of people I was watching on television and I was intrigued by what they stood for and how they were moving as women”.
Tinuke however admitted that life itself has been her greatest source of inspiration. “But overall, life inspires me and life is very real. I feel like you always get the best stories out of life and you don’t need to create or come up with something, it is real. Life is a story by itself and that is how I move.
The musician who is the only female amongst four kids also took a liking to music because her brothers and friends used to rap around her all the time.
Following on from the momentum of her previous releases, the rapper, singer unveils her new single ‘Rara’. The song is accompanied by an inventive music video – visuals that capture urban life in its artistic brilliance.
The single is about making someone aware of your feelings towards them. It is more of a confession of a crush or first love.
