Ace Ghanaian actor, Kofi Agbedanu Adjorlolo popularly known as Kofi Adjorlolo, has been the face of trends in the show biz industry for close to a week now.
The concerned man (Kofi Adjorlolo), who only took an opportunity to hammer on bad payment attitude of producers which apparently was affecting him too, saw an aftermath of give and takes between other actors in the industry; some in support and others of the view that he is too big to have done that.
Many comments sprang from one man’s honest opinion. One that evidently, was the problem of many; many who needed an ‘Okyeame’ to relay their problems to their ‘whom it may concern’. From the “Thank you uncle Adjorlolo” comments to the “Get a day job” comments, everyone had their say.
Now before you decide to take sides and judge uncle Adjorlolo for voicing out his troubling sentiments, here’s five facts you should know about him and a few logics about this saga to think about.
To start with, Kofi Adjorlolo, despite being known mainly for his profession as an actor, has had over 13 years of experience in Broadcast Journalism and is a graduate of the University of Ghana, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication.
He was also known formerly as a professional musician and has played with a number of professional bands during his days as a musician, not only here in Ghana but in Nigeria as well. Not forgetting the fact that he once worked for Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin.
Mr. Adjorlolo, for about 35years now, has thrived to be recognized widely for his great talent through spectacularly-played roles in movies like ‘The Will’, ‘End of the Will’, ‘My Mother’s Heart’ among many others. He can be referred to as an international legend as he has not only made face in Ghanaian movies, but has also starred in over a hundred Nigerian movies including ‘Power of the gods’, ‘My First Experience’ and many more.
Aside being multi-talented, Kofi Adjorlolo is a multi-award winning actor who has received countless awards such as the Best Actor in a Lead Role, Best Cameo Actor and Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Ghana Movie Awards, Bеѕt Асtоr іn Ghаnа and Веѕt Асtоr іn а Ѕuрроrtіng Rоlе аt thе Аfrіса Моvіе Асаdеmу Аwаrdѕ, Моѕt Рrоmіnеnt Асtоr іn Ghаnа аt thе Аfrіса Маgіс Vіеwеrѕ Сhоісе Аwаrd аnd Веѕt Асtоr аt thе Веѕt оf Nоllуwооd Awards, among lots more. He was also honored by then Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf with the International Golden Image Award in 2017.
Furthermore, this veteran, multi-talented man is not only an actor or used-to-be musician, but he also sidelines as a producer, director, television personality and a philanthropist. With an estimated net worth of $2Million, Mr. Adjorlolo is currently considered as one of the richest and most influential actors in Ghana.
Now this fifth point is not exactly a fact but mere logic. Kofi Adjorlolo is one of the richest actors in the game, but still complains about debts that do not even make up half of his net worth.
A lot of people are out there making dissing comments but before you add your voice, have you considered the fact as mentioned earlier that he is only speaking on behalf of younger actors whose mouths have been stitched shut with a needle and thread of fear of not being called for roles anymore?
Have you thought about the fact that this bad payment behavior is something that is happening not only in the movie industry but all around showbiz circles and needs to be addressed?
Kofi Adjorlolo certainly does not come off as a man who needs a few hundreds or thousands of cedis debts paid before he can have a three-square meal, yet for all we know he may or may not be in dire need of that money.
However, before you add any comment on this saga, cast your mind back to that Atta Adwoa who owes you for years now and has got you tired of asking. Think about how glad you would feel if you had someone to ‘jors’ Atta Adwoa on your behalf.
