Reigning Mixed Martial Art champion, Bubba Jenkins, has shown much enthusiasm in tracing his background and lineage as a Ghanaian.
In an exclusive interview with eTV Ghana, he confessed that he does not speak any of the Ghanaian local languages but he is currently eager and trying to find out what tribe he hails from.
“As an African-American, it’s a rite of passage to come to the motherland and as I’m here, people tell me I look like this or I sound like that so I’m probably from this tribe and it’s exciting”, he said.
Jenkins shared that in America where he was raised, most African-Americans have no knowledge of their background so for him to visit his homeland, Ghana and for someone to tell him that there’s a certain tribe that he belongs to and that they can help him find that, is eye-opening to him.
“Understanding who I am, on Thursday I might be a regular African-American and on Friday, with the information I might find, I might be feeling all superior because I have kingship in my family”, he joked.
He believes that knowing one’s lineage gives the ability to be bold about it therefore, when he does find his lineage, he will be sure to walk in its authority.
