Ghanaian Lawyer,Leslie Fiadoyo, has shared that women are most likely to be victims of sexual harassment because of the patriachial dispensation of our society.
Speaking on the issue of sexual harassment on the Girl Vibes show with Mercy Bee, he explained that many men are taught that they have power over many things in the society and that makes them believe that they can sexually harrass the other gender and get away with it.
Lawyer Leslie Fiadoyo, however, noted that such power of men in terms of sexual harassment, ends with the consent of the opposite sex.
“Your power ends when consent comes in. If you violate consent and sexually harass the woman, you will be stripped of your power through the law”,he added.
The lawyer advised that the first thing to do when facing sexual harassment is to “speak up”. He added that if sexual harassment happens in an institution, the victim must take advantage of the mechanisms in place to address sexual harassment.
He furthered that sexual harassment that happens outside of an institution can be addressed by the law.
