Educational Administrator, Master of Ceremony (MC) and Sports Analyst, Eustace Akwei has shared some risks that come with gambling.
Interviewed by host, Nana Yaw Odame on the Men’s Lounge show which airs on eTV Ghana, he listed some dangers associated with gambling and the first and most basic danger he said, is poverty.
“You lose your financial structure, you become a lazy person, you become obsessed and you become addicted. These are the main ones that go with it”, he said.
He explained that gambling can be so addictive that people are forced to keep staking even if with the last money they have just because they think they might get lucky enough to win on that thousandth try.
According to Eustace, gambling also comes with other negative effects like loss of marriages and it is quite frequent how people share several stories on social media about how their husbands ran their families into debt through their betting habit.
He admitted that gambling can be a quick way to make money, however, it comes with a bigger risk and most of the time, people end up in more debt than they end up rich, hence, people need to bet responsibly.
