Upcoming Ghanaian rap sensation, Akesisem, has asked that A-list artistes sometimes consider booking talented upcoming artistes like himself on their shows.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on eTV Ghana’s Late Nite Celebrity Show, he stated that most upcoming artistes out there are very talented but they do not have enough money to pay the media for advertising or promotion of their songs, hence, they remain unheard.
“Trust me, there are big names and songs on the streets which we don’t hear on media platforms. When you come to my concerts and you see me performing, you’ll wonder what is going on. I perform to about fifty thousand people, I perform on the streets and people rush to watch like they’ve seen a star because they know me”, he said.
Akesisem added that nevertheless, he goes to other parts of the country and people still see him as a new artiste just because he does not have the media attention and that is the same situation with other upcoming artistes.
He however clarified that he does not blame the media for this because some media houses are working very hard. Rather, he said, “I’ll plead on the A-list artistes to sometimes put us on. And sometimes, event organizers should not only book the big artistes on their shows but call some of us too”.
