Ghanaian entrepreneur, Nadia Takyiwaa-Mensah, has shared three out of ten steps from her book on how people can take advantage of the resources in their environment and make the best out of it as well as become a better version of themselves.
In a talk with host, Eunice Tornyi on the African Women’s Voices show which broadcasts live on eTV Ghana at 8pm every Wednesday, she observed that mostly, people do not focus enough on their mental and emotional health and do not like to point a finger back at themselves and admit that they are sometimes the problem. She suggested that people be at peace with themselves if they want to make better versions of themselves and identify these resources.
Her 86-paged book ‘’, which also references some Bible scriptures, addresses all of this with notes on how to get rid of one’s demons, understanding challenges, being able to prepare oneself to take advantage of opportunities and many more in a total of ten easily doable steps.
She started on the first step, getting rid of one’s demons, which talks more about forgiveness and being able to let things go so that we can be free. She advised people to remember that our past is things that we are to learn from and not to be entrapped by, thus the need to let go.
“People don’t realize that forgiveness is not about the other person, it’s about yourself. It’s about letting yourself go so that you can be free in your mind and your heart to then move forward. When you hold on to anger or things that have happened to you, it doesn’t allow you to progress and then you become a victim of your problems”, she said.
Next, she talked about preparedness. “Not being prepared, but preparedness. Preparedness is a deeper level of being prepared which means that when an opportunity presents itself, you’re so ready and you can just pick it up and run with it.
More often than not, I realize that we don’t like to be prepared. We like the opportunity to present itself then we try to get prepared. Again, we don’t take advantage of the situation as best as we can and we also don’t deliver as best as we can which means that we might lose out on the opportunity”, she added.
Finally, Nadia talked about digging deeper which emphasizes on understanding that there is so much within every individual to be discovered.
“More often than not, most of us are just scratching on the surface of our excellence so once we start going on this self-journey, we start realizing that life is a choice and that we have options and if we appeal to the yearnings of our spirit and then we start walking on that journey, you start realizing that there’s actually a lot more to you”, she concluded.
Ms. Nadia urged that people make an effort to get her book so as to learn to go by all ten steps to help them figure out how to poise themselves to find and make use of resources and opportunities which they can use to elevate better versions of themselves.
