Lordina, a student in her late twenties, has opined during a discussion on whether age 30 is the expiry age for women that there is no such thing as the best age for a woman to get married.
Speaking on e.TV Ghana’s Girl Vibes show hosted by Mercy Bee the Ekumfi Princess, she defined marriage as a formal union between a man and woman who have agreed to become one, both emotionally and physically for the purposes of companionship, partnership, and everything else that comes with the union.
According to her, there are only a few instances in which a woman may have to get married at a particular age, like if she has any medical issues that may give her problems with childbirth if she waits for too long.
“Medically, sometimes due to some situations, you may be advised to marry early. Sometimes, for the purpose of making children it is best to marry early to avoid all those things that women go through in relation with their age like menopause”, she said.
Lordina added that aside these reasons, nothing else should oblige a woman to get married at a certain age if she does not want to or she is not ready for it.
“You should think of marriage when you think you’re ready for it and not when someone thinks you should because you’re thirty or forty years old. Even when you’re in a serious relationship and the man is ready, I don’t think that should push you. It should be when both of you are ready for it”, the lady further concluded.
