Fast rising gospel musician, MOG, which is the acronym for ‘Man of God’, has said that secular musicians have a place in the church like everyone else.
He made these submissions on Happy FM’s Saturday morning entertainment show, ‘Showbiz Extra’ with Doctar Cann.
‘’ Secular artistes are not bad people; we have to accept them as they are. All the church has to do is to help fine tune their content to tow a Christ like line. I always use Akwaboah as a classic example because he is a protégé of a pastor so even though he sings love songs, his lyrics are polished,’’ he asserted.
To confirm his stance on secular artistes, MOG said he has a song with the artiste of the decade Sarkodie titled ‘Making it big’.
“Secular artistes have a huge following and the church can influence all these people by embracing them. I have a song on my third album with Sarkodie,’’ he added.
The computer system analyst who is also a pastor with the Royal House Chapel International, said his first two albums did not do so well and that led to some heartbreaks for him.
‘’I have been a gospel musician for almost a decade but my first two album attempts failed and I went through a difficult phase in my music career. My management and I sat down and did our homework and came back stronger with a third album that did so well,’’ he reminisced.
‘’Reverend Sam Korankye Ankrah helped me tour the United Kingdom with my third album and one of the tracks ‘Be Lifted’ became an instant global hit,’’ he said.
MOG who Doctar Cann – host of ‘Showbiz Xtra’- calls his discovery- plays several major instruments but says the trumpet remains his favourite instrument of worship.
Meanwhile, he has over two million views with his song ‘Be lifted’ on youtube.
