The biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to dismiss the Education Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, to save the government from any further embarrassment.
Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO, in an interview on an Accra based radio station claimed that former President John Mahama bused people to the Independence Square to cause chaos in the ongoing exercise to place students who failed to gain admission into any Senior High School.
In a statement, signed by Communications Director the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, the opposition party described the claims as preposterous.
According to the NDC, “the embarrassing spectacle parents and students are being subjected to at the Black Star Square, is the direct result of the inefficient management of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) by the Akufo-Addo government.”
Some disgruntled parents and guardians on Monday besieged the Independence Square in Accra where the School Placement Resolution Centre has been set up to express their frustration over the non-placement of their wards in their preferred schools.
While some parents complained that their wards have not been placed in their selected schools, some children have been placed at schools they did not choose in regions they never selected.
