Most Rev. Philip Naameh, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference has shared his view on the ongoing debate on the anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
According to him, it is against God’s wisdom to promote and accept this act and, “Our position has been articulated so many times in the media.”
He shared that it is important we know that God created humans in his own image and likeness and with sexual differentiation for a purpose.
Talking to Samuel Eshun on e.TV Ghana’s Fact Sheet show, he explained, “God created the human as man and woman and stated that in marriage they become one flesh and have the mission to produce children. So it means the union between men and women leads to a collaboration in the creation of another human species.”
He furthered that, any other configuration among human beings is not according to the wisdom of God which means, “if a man decides to get married to man for sexual pleasure and a woman also decides to be with another woman for sexual pleasure, then it is sinful and should not be accepted.”
Rev. Philip Naameh noted that if their relationship is not mere friendship but sexual, then that’s not God’s purpose. “This is our clear position on this issue.”
Explaining what sex constitutes from the perspective of the church he shared that, “it is unacceptable and inappropriate for a man to penetrate in any other organ instead of the female sexual organ as it is not in accordance with the wisdom of God in creation.”
He added that if anyone decides to do something contrary to God’s purpose then it becomes sinful and criminal.
