Ghanaian highlife singer and CEO of Janet’s Pizza, Restaurant and Grill, TiC, has attested to the fact that Ghanaians are losing most of our indigenous foods and opinionized that there should be a regulation that every restaurant should maintain at least one Ghanaian dish to help preserve some of the indigenous foods we have lost over the years.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on the Late Nite Celebrity Show, TiC hinted, ‘’A lot of local foods like ‘apapransa’, ‘kokonte’ and others are going out of the system but these foods are healthy and we need to preserve them so I want to introduce something for my restaurant which is very Ghanaian that you don’t get in other restaurants. We are still thinking about it and we will announce it soon.’’
He mentioned that although he sells a lot of mixed culture food, one thing he has realized is that Ghanaians love their ‘bongo pork’ and jollof rice. ‘’Ghanaians have special meals like waakye, Jollof, goat meat and a few others that they always want to enjoy so I make sure those foods are always available in my restaurant but for my brand, I want to go beyond that; like having a special day for a particular food’’, he said.
The hiplife legend complemented that there is no way he can have or choose one favourite food because there are too many good Ghanaian foods to choose from and he doesn’t think anyone can be able to choose just one from all the delicious foods they have eaten since birth.
