The National Democratic Congress’(NDC) parliamentary candidate for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro, Alexander Ackuaku, has said that he will seek a legal action against the election results that puts the NPP’s Sylvester Tetteh as the Member of Parliament of the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom constituency.
Sylvester Tetteh polled 42,806 as against Alexander Ackuako’s 37,502 votes in the total 80,308 votes cast.
In an interview with GMABC’s Joe Debrah, Alexander made known: “That is not the verdict of the people. We will talk to our lawyers and whatever advice they give us that is what we will do. This result certainly must be reversed.
We’ve been here since yesterday and you saw what happened. How can you conduct an election and presiding officers take the ballot home and bring it the next day. Since when? Results are sent through WhatsApp. Have you seen some before in this country?
We are definitely going to seek legal action”.
Prior to the declaration of results, there were reports of confusion at the collation centre in the Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro constituency as the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Sylvester Tetteh alleged that the electrical infrastructure at the Christian Methodist Senior High collation centre had been tampered with.
He thus stormed the centre with his team and demanded that the ongoing process be stopped.
