Actor Prince David Osei has disclosed his worst encounter with a popular Kumawood producer who tried all efforts to offer him GHc2,000 for a role.
But, the actor known for his ‘Loverboy’ roles in movies said he had to immediately cut off the call on the producer because that amount was out of range from what he usually charges for roles in Glamour movies.
Osei revealed that he charges Ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHc10,000) for a movie role.
“A Kumawood movie producer discussed how their movies kept going down. He wanted to give me Ghc 2,000 for a role. He was begging me to take that amount but I told him to look for someone who will take that amount. The producer kept pushing so I had to cut the call. I charge Ghc10k for English Movies so that amount was next to nothing to me.
“Unfortunately for me, I don’t see any rivalry between the English Movie industry and the Kumawood industry. If there was rivalry between us, they wouldn’t be calling some of us to do movies in Kumasi and we won’t be calling them to do movies in Accra too. Previously everybody thought it was the Kumawood industry that was holding the forte and the English Movie was literally dead. Now there has been a resurrection and I’m sure people are not happy. There’s a lot going on with the English Movie industry.” Prince David Osei told KMJ on Hitz FM.
