Managing Director of Matrix Equipment and Consultancy Services Limited, Joseph Kofi Orko-Obrempong, has shared in his opinion, the major do and do not of in-laws in relation to their children’s marriages.
Talking to Nana Yaw Odame on eTV Ghana’s Men’s Lounge, he stated that the most important thing that in-laws are supposed to do for their sons and daughters is to pray for them because marriage is a long road and having prayerful in-laws goes a long way to help a couple in sustaining their marriage.
Furthering on what in-laws should not do, he said, ‘’In-laws should limit themselves from interfering and meddling in the marriage that their son or daughter is in. If the meddling becomes too much, the woman especially, becomes uncomfortable and this makes the marriage very unstable’’.
Joseph, advising couples, said, ‘’It is all about how you two are together and the communication between you and your wife. Anytime there is a breach in communication between a couple, that is when the in-laws come in’’.
Thus, he concluded that as a couple, advice will always come, especially from the wife’s parents but the key to a stable marriage is communication.
