Ghanaian musical artiste Ishak Spark has given his thoughts on awards and how they are given to artistes.
According to the artiste, his doing music has got nothing to do with receiving awards, but rather he is doing it because he loves it.
He told Foster Romanus on e.TV Ghana’s Late Nite Celebrity Show, “If I was doing music for the awards, I would have stopped doing music long ago. I’ve been doing music for a very long time now which means I’m focused on doing what I’m doing and not receiving awards from anyone.”
He explained that the awards schemes belong to people who are also trying to make money.
“Grammys and all the others belong to people so I’ll rather pay attention to doing my music than receiving awards.”
He also added, “I’ll rather set some standards and say I want my music to reach a certain crop of people and not do my music to take awards.”
Ishak Spark emphasized that he is not doing music for the awards and, “for me as an artiste you cannot use awards to suppress me and my music.”
He is out with an EP called ‘Way Up’ which has 6 songs on it and he encourages everyone to stream and listen.
