Media Personality and Ghanaian Social Activist for Plus size women,Enyonam Ama Dabor, popularly known as Miz Debbie has revealed that she prefers purchasing second-hand clothes to brand new clothes regardless of her status as a celebrity.
In an interview with Mercy Bee on e.TV Ghana’s ‘Girl Vibes’ show, she disclosed: “I am a public figure who buys second-hand clothes .I think among all the public figures in Ghana, I buy the most second-hand clothes. I go to Accra to get my collection. The people who know me at Accra and see me on TV always take pictures with me”.
She stated that her patronizing of Accra clothes and even food has attracted few displeasure from people who know her. She recounted a time when one of her contacts sent her a picture of her eating food she bought from an open space in Accra. Her response, however, was unexpected, as she posted a screenshot of her contact’s message on her Instagram stories for others to know her lifestyle.
Miz Debbie, with this experience, sought to educate women on the need to feel confident about themselves no matter what anyone thought about them. She, thus, encouraged that children, especially girls, should be helped by parents to build their confidence even before they reached their teenage years.
Girl Vibes is a new programme introduced by e.TV Ghana which discusses issues related to women. The show airs at 4pm every Thursdays on e.TV Ghana.
