Yaa Yeboah, a professional Master of Ceremony(MC) and voice-over artiste, with her knowledge in love and relationships, has made some clarifications about the term ‘heartbreak’ and how people comprehend it.
She stated in an interview with Adwen-the Love Doctor, on eTV Ghana’s In Bed with Adwen, that most people relate heartbreak to when one’s partner breaks up with them, but in reality that is not what heartbreak is all about.
In her opinion, people also go through heartbreak when they lose a relative or a close associate.
“When someone is heartbroken, they mostly have insomnia, thus, they can barely sleep. They keep thinking a lot and when they are finally able to get a little sleep, they wake up thinking about their heartbreaking situation”, she said, highlighting some behavioral traits of people going through heartbreak.
Further, on some effects of heartbreak on an individual, Yaa mentioned that heartbreak has the potential to drive one into committing suicide. When people lose close associates or relatives, they may begin to feel like a part of them has been taken away.
She said if a person is not strong and does not have enough people supporting and consoling him, that feeling of heartbreak and emptiness can gradually cause him to grow suicidal.
Yaa Yeboah advised that a close eye be kept on people who lose close friends and relatives, and focus on making them feel loved and supported, so that they do not get suicidal.
