Former coach of Asante Kotoko, Isaac Opele Boateng propounds that, Ghana will move forward if government puts more into agriculture.
He stated that, Ghana’s public sector has only about 7000 workers, out of 35 million Ghanaians, not even up to 1 million. Meanwhile all the money we get, government uses it to compensate workers. All the salaries goes into the public sector.
Speaking with Sefa Danquah on Happy 98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben, “all our political parties have to come together to fight corruption and leakages”.
“Government should invest more in agriculture for us to be able to export more of our products outside Ghana to be able to earn more from the foreign income”, he said.
He believes that until all the parties come together to agree on the same decision, our economy is always going to be behind . If other parties went on fighting and telling which party is wrong and right, we will slack in everything.
“A typical example is the Agyapa deal, if both parties came together with open ideas and no hidden secrets, if they were open about what they will use the money for it would have helped Ghana grow it mining industries”, he explained.
According to him, if there should be an economic drive, parties should have one motto to make sure that Ghana moves forward, if not so we will always be borrowing from other countries.
“Planting for food was introduced last 3years and till now there has been no increase in prices of food, the prices has stabilized. Kenkey has been 1cedis for 3years now”, he mentioned.
So he advise that being it NPP or NDC if we put more in agriculture, it will help develop the country’s economy.
