Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Ghana National Gas Company, Dr.Ben K.D Asante, says the company saves the country $3million monthly through the use of locals in its operations.
According to him, since local engineers took over operations from the Chinese, “we save $3million a month because that is how much we pay the Chinese a month,” he said.
Speaking at a press engagement put together by the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Dr. Asante revealed that his outfit as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has embarked on 152 projects in the area of education, security, roads and health. He revealed 301 of these projects are at the verge of completion.
“Till date, we have 16 regions covered and we have 152 projects and about 301 are ongoing at various stages of completion. We don’t see why we shouldn’t share what we get with the communities we operate in and we do that proudly.”
He urged stakeholders to create an enabling environment for the energy sector to thrive.
