The Functional Sports League Ghana made a resounding debut with its inaugural Functional Fitness Tournament on Friday, December 1st, captivating fitness enthusiasts at the Zulka Astroturf park.
The event featured an array of thrilling activities including Step-craft, Aerobathon, and an intense functional fitness tournament that kept participants and spectators on the edge of their seats.
Prizes were nothing short of impressive, with the top winners securing GH¢ 1,500.00, trophies, medals, certificates, student mattresses with pillows, and generous cartons of water. The enthusiasm and competitive spirit were palpable as participants vied for top honors in the various categories.
In the men’s category, Charles Adama of the Hot Fitness Team (HFT) emerged as the overall champion, with an ecstatic Donnel Quarshie securing the fifth position. The women’s category saw Rebecca Boafoa of Ideal Ladies Club clinching the top spot, celebrating alongside other accomplished female competitors.
Nana Adu Mankattah, President of Sports For All Ghana (NASFAG) and Gyasehene of Adukrom, graced the event as a special guest. In his address, he commended both the organizers and competitors, emphasizing the sport’s significance beyond its entertaining aspects. Mankattah revealed that Ghana has proudly joined the International Functional Fitness Federation- IF3, positioning itself as the sixth nation in Africa to do so. He encouraged broader community engagement, urging corporate bodies, churches, and communities to embrace this fan-centric sport.
Charles Adama, the victorious male contestant, expressed his excitement and gratitude, encouraging the federation to continue hosting such events nationwide. Rebecca Boafoa, the triumphant female winner, extended her thanks to everyone involved, acknowledging the organizers for orchestrating a successful competition.
