Ghanaian rapper and hip hop artiste Trigmatic has revealed what inspired him to do more of the live band than the rap music that we all know him for.
Narrating how it all started, he shared that as one of the few artistes in Ghana who got the chance to perform at the Fellabration concert, he got the chance to experience the real African sound which he fell in love with.
In an interview with Doctar Cann on Happy 98.9 FM’s Ayekoo After Drive Show he shared, “The first time I performed there was in 2016 and I instantly fell in love with the African sound and this Influenced me to do what I’m doing now because, I believe we all started from somewhere and someday we hope to get to a better place with what we’re doing”.
Going into details he went on to say that because his interest in live band grew he continued to follow and listen to some legends like Fella and, “I fell in love with Fella’s songs instantly and also realized that his sound and beat even sounded like Ebo Tailor and later on I also realized that Ebo’s influence was more in Fella’s music at the time and this is a fact people don’t know”.
Trig disclosed that he went on to get more books on African music and also started talking to some legends in that field and this time, “I decided to put myself on the Fellabration concert. So I called my lawyer and we went on with the process. So the last Fellabration concert I performed in 2019 which I made sure to rehearse a lot of live band songs for; I was really looking forward to it because of the other artistes who were on the bill”.
He called his journey into live band music an interesting one although he did not have it all rosy as some media houses in Ghana started coming at him and bashing him that, “I am no longer a good rapper hence my sudden decision to switch to play live band”.
Tragmatic ended by saying in spite of all this, he did not give up but rather kept pushing and being focused because, “I knew what I wanted and I was ready to do everything possible to achieve it and now I’m pursuing it now”.
