Collation of Civil Society Abuse of Incumbency and Pre-Political Corruption report which was launched on the 14th October 2016 indicated that the party has engaged in several incidence of electoral corruption especially in vote buying on several electoral platform across the country.
Monitoring of Abuse of Incumbency and Pre-Political Corruption started in June this year with theme to promote a more level political playing field reducing Abuse of Incumbency and electoral corruption in Ghana 2016 election.
The aim is to monitor, expose and condemn the extent of occurrence and variety of abuse of incumbency and pre-election corruption in so doing creating a free and fair in the coming election this year.
Edem Senanu the Co-Chair of Citizen Movement against Corruption at the launch of the first report of Abuse of Incumbency and Pre-Political Corruption revealed how the NDC have engage in electoral corruption. Speaking at the launch he stated “some incidence of vote buying were observe in selected constituencies and other parts the country, offering money, food and other items aimed at securing votes is not an appropriate political activity”
He added “on 17th of July Hon. Dakora at an event where he was out-doored was seen going round giving out some colored notes”
He revealed that “there is a trend that has developed which we have described as vote selling, we need to pay even more attention to this, because it will totally destroy the moral fabric of our society. Here it is the citizen who are actively and aggressively saying come and pay me or do something for me otherwise I won’t vote for you.”
