Dos and don’ts for washing a bra

Chief Executive Officer of Delicate R Underwear and More, Rita Mawusi, has educated on some things that women should note when washing their bras.

She noted that with the bra, soaking it in soapy water for sometime before washing is key. The expert clarified that soaking bras should not be done with harsh soaps or stuff like parazone, but rather mild soaps and only for about fifteen minutes tops.

Moving on, she enlightened that, “The part of the bra that has the metal in it cannot be washed so you have to get a small brush like a toothbrush and gently scrub off all the dirt. You have to scrub the sides and the straps as well but after doing all that, you don’t need to squeeze it”.

According to her, the best way to dry a bra or get soapy water out of a bra after washing is not by squeezing it but by putting it directly into clean water and rinsing severally and thoroughly until all the soapy water comes out of it. “And then, you just use a hanger or a peg to hang it to dry”, she further enlightened.

She again alternated that, one can also pat the bra continuously with a towel to get the water out. Rita explained that wringing the bra to get the water out is not advisable because it causes the bra to stretch and forces the metal beneath the bra cup to pop out.
