Dr. Richmond K. Frimpong, the Executive Director of Financial Literacy Africa, has admonished that people should have personal and valid reasons for making make new year resolutions.
He observed that a lot of people make new year resolutions only because they are entering a new year and also because it seems to be the norm since many years past, however, it should not be so. This came up during an interview with Nana Yaw Odame on another episode of eTV Ghana’s Men’s Lounge.
Dr. Richmond advised that to make a new year resolution, one must be motivated by their purpose, and have a vision in life. Then, to make that vision a reality, set goals towards it. These goals that work as the plan to achieving the vision, are the new year resolutions that we make.
“Your purpose is the reason for which you exist so be motivated by your purpose, then you now think about how far you want to carry the reason for which you are who you are, and that becomes your vision. Out of that vision and in your bid to achieve it, you put together specific goals.
That is how you should approach 2021 so that the goals you set are not just goals you’re setting because it’s a new year but they are goals that are taking you a step closer to who you are supposed to be, and the vision or ambition that you carry is what will make you a success in the next five or ten years”, the financial expert further added.
