The National Organizer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Desmond Twumasi Ntow has quashed claims that the demonstration by the Inter-Party Resistance Against a New Voters’ Register (IPRNA) turned violent.
Speaking in an interview on the Happy Morning Show aired on Happy 98.9FM, he stated: “The turnout for the demonstration was great. In this age, we have nothing like stronghold. Ghanaians are now tired. The police did very well. We comported ourselves. We didn’t want to act in a way that would have defeated the purpose of our demonstration. We have done our part, but it is now left with the Electoral Commission to heed to the request of Ghanaians”.
On his part, media publications that report otherwise are diverting the issue at hand to something else. “Ghanaians must understand that the demonstration was not done by the NDC alone. This is a coalition of political parties that demonstrated on the streets of Ghana”, he added.
Desmond Twumasi Ntow was reacting to a news report in the Daily Guide Newspaper which reported that it took the timely intervention of the police to rescue a female trader from angry demonstrators who attempted to “manhandle” her during the “National Democratic Congress (NDC) sponsored ‘Yennpini’ demonstration in Kumasi”.
Join the trio, Samuel Eshun, Fati Shaibu-Ali and Raymond Nyamador on Happy Morning Show every weekday (Monday to Friday) 5:30am to 9:00am.
