Ghanaian Highlife Singer, Dada Hafco has asserted that some Ghanaian artistes are not skilled when it comes lyrical composition, and as such they depend on social media trends to give their music a boost.
Speaking in an interview with Foster Romanus on the Late Nite Celebrity show, he describes such as artistes as ‘clout chasing artistes’ and states: “Music is supposed to entertain, educate and inform. So if your music is not telling any story, you have to drop the mic and join the fans and give us some support. When it comes to the lyrical dexterity in terms of our music, few people put in that work. A lot of people have been clout-chasing artistes; they just want to have a hit song out there with their name blown all over on social media”.
He furthered that a real musician always thinks about the legacy that his music will bring to his name and not the beats in the song.
He was however of the opinion that the music industry is getting better with lyrical composition because a lot of people now pay attention to the contents of music and are ever ready to critic any new song produced.
“In recent times, our music is getting better in terms of content writing and composition. This is because people are now paying attention to music and not just the beats”, he added.
Dada Hafco is out with a new single dubbed ‘Our Story’ which features Ghanaian act, Fameye.
