President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has for the third time in ten days addressed the nation with updates on the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.
In his third address to the nation, he has commended Ghanaians for “observing the prescribed social distancing and enhanced hygienic protocols”.
“I am deeply humbled by the widespread nature of support from you the Ghanaian people for the measures I have taken so far”.
He also commended “both sides of parliament for their expeditious and responsible manner in which they have handled the passage of the imposition of restriction act”.
He, however, noted that it has become necessary to take additional measures to save the lives of many and as such stringent measure such as the closure of borders either by air or land will take effect from midnight on Sunday, 22nd March,2020 for the next two weeks.
