Rev. Nyansa Boakwa, host of Happy FM’s ‘Nsem Pii’ has shared his opinion that when it comes to contraceptives, men should be the major focus.
Discussing ‘The man’s view on male birth control’ with Nana Yaw Odame on eTVGhana’s Men’s Lounge, he stated that contraceptives have been with us all these years only that it is not as looked at as that of the females’ is.
He said, ‘’For a man, if your manhood is not working and you’re alive, it means that you’re sick. The day a man dies is the day his manhood dies so if we’re forcing women to take contraceptives, you’re punishing them because unlike men, they don’t stay fertile till death’’.
‘’Even within the month, there is a period that women can have sex without pregnancy so automatically there’s a break but with men, they don’t get that till death so they pose more risk. I know there are other operational means of birth control for males but they don’t like doing it so I think we should focus more on getting them to take those measures rather than disturbing the women’’, he furthered.
Pastor Boakwa concluded that as women obviously have a lot of issues i.e from birth, after birth, during menstrual periods and all, it would just be fair that we do not make it more complicated for them.
